Hundreds take part in skinny dip record attempt

Hundreds of swimmers braved the cold autumn conditions on Saturday morning in an attempt to set a new world record for the largest number of people skinny dipping at once.
The North East Skinny Dip took place in Druridge Bay, in Northumberland, where a crowd of just over 200 people ran into the sea at sunrise but they fell short of breaking the world record.
The event was organised in an attempt to raise money for the mental health charity Mind. Some of those taking part said they were also marking the Autumn Equinox by joining in. Organiser Jacqueline Higginson, 34, from Whitburn, said: "Today loads of us ran naked into the sea to raise money for Mind and to celebrate ourselves and our bodies.
